At the end of 2022, thirteen students from Arizona State University were transformed by the experience of a lifetime as they traveled to the Antarctic Peninsula and South Georgia. The study abroad program, offered through ASU’s School for the Future of innovation in Society and led by Dr. Nicole Mayberry and Professor Andrew Maynard, challenged students to think differently about themselves, the environment they live in, and the society they are a part of, as they experienced first hand one of the most remote and remarkable places on the planet.

Nicole Mayberry is the spring 2022 Outstanding Graduate for the College of Global Futures at Arizona State University, graduating with a PhD degree in human and social dimensions of science and technology. ASU’s spring 2022 Graduate Commencement ceremony was held on May 9 at Desert Financial Arena.
